A Whole New World

By Katie Ross, July 26th, 2010

There’s no place we’d rather live than New York, but even we’ll admit it: sometimes we just need an escape. At Panoramic View Resort, a renowned Montauk location for over fifty years, it’s all too easy to find one. As the name suggests, the view from Panoramic View Resort is something that needs to be seen in person to be believed, which is why every guest room has a balcony for guests to enjoy the unreal beauty of the landscape.

Porcelain Polos

By Katie Ross, June 28th, 2010

From our friends over at Highsnobiety, we hear that Chinese porcelain artist Li Xiaofeng has been commissioned by Lacoste to design two different polos—one fabric, one porcelain—for its Holiday 2010 Collector’s Series. With Chinese porcelain of the Ming and Qing dynasties serving as inspiration, Li Xiaofeng’s creations seem to be driven by the desire to unite traditional Chinese art with modern fashion. Limited in number and high in price, both shirts serve up a serious history lesson as well. Check out more photos after the jump.

With a swimwear collection that has been described as “sophisticated, yet fun and dynamic,” it’s no wonder that Trina Turk received the title of Mercedes-Benz Presents designer this season, joining the prestigious ranks of designers Monique Lhuillier, Badgley Mischka, Narciso Rodriguez, Red Carter and CHADO Ralph Rucci. The designer also plans to debut her Spring 2011 swimwear collection, which draws inspiration from the city of Acapulco in the 1960s and 1970s and incorporates a range of colors, from classic black and white to dynamic multi-colored patterns, at the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Swim Week in Miami on July 15. The hardware of the collection is particularly of note for its elegant and unique use of gold, signature of Turk’s designs. Check them out at trinaturk.com.

CIRQUE DU HORSES

By Katie Ross, June 16th, 2010

The jaw-dropping acrobatics and multimedia effects of new show Cavalia might call to mind Cirque du Soleil—but the true stars of the show are the 60 horses drawn from around the world. Nearly a decade in the making, Cavalia is at once both heartwarming and heart-stopping, a tale of the evolution of the relationship between man and horse born from the mind of Cirque du Soleil co-founder, Norman Latourelle. The fantastical nature of Cavalia comes to the forefront as the horses gambol and gallop about the stage, at times entirely unrestrained, while performers execute breathtaking stunts whose success depends utterly on the horses’ whim.
