Aztecs, Incas, and Mayan: Tribal Wear
By Kayi Tsang, April 9th, 2012
Incas, Mayans, and Aztecs are the inspiration for numerous runway looks this spring 2012 season. Donna Karan and Mara Hoffman recreated the image of Aztec and Mayan religious figures; one in dark earth tones and the other in brighter orange and blue variants. Meanwhile, BCBG Max Azria and Burberry Prorsum featured zigzag and striped tribal patterns as an integral part of their collections. Lastly, David Koma takes a modern twist on tribal patterns by adding it on sheer fabrics over fluorescent neon colors. With the tribal print trend in mind, CITYist has chosen a few of our favorite tribal and Mayan-inspired looks of the season and found affordable alternatives in store now for you to start carrying this spring trend.
