Blog Art

Social media is an ingenious thing. And we’re not talking about Facebook and Twitter here—but the now seemingly archaic way of connecting with those interested through a good ole’ blogspot. Shipley & Halmos, purveyors of minimalist classicism with an urban edge, are finding a new way to connect with fans by posting their doodlings (previously limited to scraps of paper) on a blog.
The Shipley & Halmos blog, Numerous Drawings, allows fans to connect with the duo’s design process in order to see what they were thinking, or at least absent-mindedly doodling, that day. Co-designer Sam Shipley often chooses to sketch objects in the design studio, but is also inspired by New Order cover albums and, apparently, Kate Moss. The black and white sketches (with occasional pops of color) are made solely by hand.
Looking at someone’s personal drawings is kind of like looking in a diary. Shipley & Halmos have invited us to look inside their ninth-grade notebook, and we’ll be honest, it’s pretty thrilling.
