‘Charlotte’s Web’-inspired Collection from Charlotte Olympia

By Marisa Steinberg, September 13th, 2012

It may just be a residual effect of spending our childhood exclusively reading books with daydream-y female protagonists, but when we slip on a pair of whimsical Charlotte Olympia shoes, we feel like Alice in Wonderland. With the debut of a “Charlotte’s Web”-inspired collection for Fashion’s Night Out, we’re assuming such feelings are just what the U.K.-based label always intended. The label’s creator, Charlotte Dellal, teamed up with Olympia Le-Tan (whose clutches are known for giving new meaning to the term “book bag”) to create a clutch and two seriously stacked sets of heels. It’s not the first time the designer, whose range of dreamy footwear won her Accessories Designer of the Year from Glamour’s Women of the Year Awards this past May, has drawn inspiration from E.B. White’s classic novel. In a previous collection, she’s embroidered black loafers with a gold web and spider and her emblem is a spider web, after all. However, her latest take on the tale inspired delicately sky high gold-soled platforms inscribed with key words from the book such as “radiant” that feel so much more in line with our lingering childhood revelries. Step into these storybook stilettos and grab the “Charlotte’s Web” clutch at Charlotte Olympia stores in New York and London.
