You won’t find me in a mall or at Macy’s on Black Friday. The crowds, the hassle, and the mayhem is not what shopping is all about for me. I almost always stick to boutiques and smaller shops in Soho, so I just might be tempted to check out the new Converse store at 560 Broadway at its grand opening on Friday, Nov. 26.
I was surprised to find out that this is the company’s first retail store in Manhattan, and will be showcasing the breadth of the brand’s collections including Chuck Taylor All Star, Jack Purcell, Star Chevron, One Star, and Converse by John Varvatos, Additionally, a new line of men’s and women’s apparel and accessories grounded in the company’s American heritage of sports and rock ‘n roll will give consumers a true head-to-toe innovative shopping experience.
The grand opening will begin at 8 a.m.—so no 4 a.m. lines that you hear of at the big box stores…and if you know the Soho area well, you know that the cool cats don’t start their shopping until after a leisurely lunch at Lure anyway.
