D&G Men’s Fall/Winter 2011-2012
By Jake Flanagin, January 18th, 2011
An undeniable theme present in D&G’s Fall/Winter 2011-2012 collection for men is color. Hyper-saturated hues complement ensembles positively dripping with vibrance. Graphic tee shirts, emblazoned with iconic logos, convey a sensibility of comfort and utility, balanced by the inclusion of traditional, durable materials such as wool and corduroy. Traces of pop-art mentality were evident influences.
Emphasis on varying designs produces a collection of individually intriguing pieces, but a common use of similar lines, colors, and materials makes it oddly coherent. This coherence is reflected in color choice, which starts out with heavily saturated tones that are repeated in their more somber, burnt forms in sequential garments.
Lastly, a focus on accessories brings this collection full circle. D&G branded headphones, regimental ties, suede high-top sneakers, and branded sunglasses (all in varying, saturated tones) complete each look to fully encapsulate the D&G vision for the coming season.
