FASHION WEEK SHOW-GOERS ‘PUT THEIR NAME ON IT’

By Tameika Lawrence, October 5th, 2012

‘Put your name on it’ is taking on a whole new meaning this season with the emergence of eponymous accessories. Fashion was always about personality, but some Fashion Week Spring 2013 street style stars really let us know who they are with name-baring bags. Anna (Dello Russo) rocked a kiss-closure clutch with her first name embellished boldly in gold glitter. Cara (Delevingne) sported a navy backpack with her first name printed in red. While show-goer “Faith” paired her preppy letterman sweater with a serious black clutch featuring her name scripted in green and white across the side. The ‘name bags’ seem like a modern revival of the gilded name chains, knuckle rings and oversized earrings of the 90s on a more sophisticated canvas. Then again, narcissism could just have reached an all time high among the fashion set. It’s too early to tell, but if the trend goes mainstream, it’ll be interesting to see how creative people get with it. At the very least it’ll make photo credits a breeze!
