IMPROVD is Fashion IMPROVED
By Liz Black, September 21st, 2010
From stunning black & white portraits of some of the industry’s “It” girls, to an eerily beautiful film shown above a live classical music performance while plaster-cast clothed bodies danced in the wind outside, IMPROVD gave all those who attended the presentation something that they’re always desperately searching for: something different.
Not willing to have the clothes marched around on the backs of skeletal models, IMPROVD designers Valentino Vettori and Sam Ben-Avraham touched on three different modes of displaying their buttery-soft leathers and tissue thin tops and dresses. They were worn ever so subtly on the frames of “It” girls such as Becka Diamond, Arden Wohl, Stella Schnabel and Cory Kennedy in intense black & white images photographed by photographer Yelena Yemchuk and styled by Liz McClean, displayed in an elegant ballet-themed film accompanied by live music, and strapped onto swinging corpse-like plaster bodies that twirled in the breeze along the edges of the High Line Room at the Standard Hotel. By giving the viewer options on how to contemplate the clothes, Vettori and Ben-Avraham kept interest high and moving throughout the exhibition.
IMPROVD is an attainable luxury collection that embraces high fashion, quality and individual expression created by long time industry pros Valentino Vettori and Sam Ben-Avraham. And within an Industry that frequently becomes bored with the same-old-same-old, IMPROVD is offering luxe goods with a level of quality unheard of within its price point.
