John Varvatos Turns 10
By Tiffany Yannetta, September 13th, 2010
If there’s any venue famous for a wild bash, no doubt it was CBGB’s, and John Varvatos has done a pretty good job at keeping the reputation alive at the brand’s shop on the Bowery. It’s 10th Anniversary party was no exception; the party’s tagline, “Prohibition is Over,” was more than applicable, as Stillhouse kicked off the party with one wild cocktail hour to debut their Original Moonshine Clear Corn Whiskey. But would you expect anything less when Cherie Currie, Perry Farrell, Alice Cooper, Billy Gibbons and Dusty Hill are providing the soundtrack? In person, that is.
Amidst all the mayhem, the party’s best feature was without a doubt its live concert: a set list that included Cherie Currie performing “Cherry Bomb,” Camp Freddy with Donovan Leitch’s version of “Ballroom Blitz,” Alice Cooper’s “School’s Out” and the closer from Perry Farrell, “The Mountain Song.” All that rock ‘n’ roll, with moonshine to boot, and you’ve got yourself a pretty rowdy 10th birthday.
