Madonna and Dolce&Gabbana present: MDG
By Tiffany Yannetta, March 16th, 2010
Not only is Madonna the face of Dolce&Gabbana’s Spring 2010 campaign, but she’s also lent a hand in creating the line’s new sunglass collection, appropriately titled MDG. The collection is composed of six styles, all scheduled for a May 2010 debut, and features oversized frames and wraparound silhouettes that are perfect for sneaking around the city while trying to escape the summer heat.
If Spring 2010’s campaign is a nod to Italian cinema, then the shots for MDG depict Madonna as a film noir star, her escapades with model Tyson Ballou voyeuristically snapped and presented like film stills of the past. Both Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana rave that Madonna’s “creative contribution and unique point of view were key, even in designing the MDG logo,” and we wouldn’t expect anything less from the woman who’s been setting (and defying) fashion trends for decades.
