Flame-haired catwalker Karen Elson has decided to try a new hat on: flame-haired bluesy chanteuse. At first glance, this may appear to include more than a dash of nepotism: Elson is, after all, the wife of rocker Jack Black. But one peek at her new video for “The Ghost Who Walks” (after the jump) and you’ll know this is for real. The British transport, now living in Nashville, sure can sing. With her album coming out May 25, we give you a brief history of models in music to tide you over till you can hear more of Elson’s husky vocals.

Basking in an orange glow and dressed like a goth Loretta Lynn, Elson sings a bluesy ballad over some smooth guitar in the video for her first single.

Supermodel Agyness Deyn also dipped her toe in the music pool, most notably with a duet with Five-o-Clock Heroes, “Who.”

Carla Bruni may be famous now for being the First Lady of France, but her recording career starting way back in ‘03 with her album, “Quelqu’un m’a dit.” Watch the video to see the Italian beauty whisper sweet nothings in French.

Tyra Banks is known as many things, but singer is generally not one of them. Remember that season of “America’s Next Top Model” when she released a single and had the contestants star in the video, however? Have a good laugh, but rest assured: we’re pretty sure Tyra’s in on the joke, too.
