PF Flyers Celebrates Its 75th Anniversary

By Christine Tran, March 19th, 2012

PF Flyers has maintained its status as one of the premier purveyors of “Authentic American Style” and continues its long tradition of providing premium, timeless casual footwear. To mark 75 years of quality, comfort and style, PF Flyers is launching a new campaign for Spring 2012 complete with mobile and iPad integration. The anniversary campaign will consist of a 75th anniversary capsule collection, the re-launch of PFFlyers.com and a video-based series featuring a cast of select style-makers who embody PF Flyers’ brand values and aesthetic.

PF Flyers’ 75th capsule collection will feature three unisex styles: a reinterpretation of the classic silhouettes, Center Hi and Windjammer, and an updated, more streamlined version of the brand’s heritage Grounder style, Grounder II. The limited edition collection will be sold at retailers including New York’s Kith NYC, The J. Crew Liquor Store and Bloomingdales 59th Street, in addition to LA’s American Rag and Boston’s The Tannery.

And for the re-launch of its website, PF Flyers has enlisted award-winning, Boston-based creative Studio, Adam & Co., to create a site that will serve as a platform for the series of video interviews that will be released throughout the year. Each video will offer insight into the inspiration and creative minds of some of today’s leading style-makers.

Footwear Designer James Lee says of the collection, “We wanted to stay true to the history and aesthetic of the original PF Flyers designs, while offering modern styles that would appeal to PF Flyers’ existing and new customers. We balanced old and new elements to create a collection that appears raw and handmade and improves with age, much like the styles of the past.”
