Pleasant Platforms

It may seem impossible, my fellow Cityists, but the temperature is gradually inching up and the sun is often peeking out in between spouts of rain. Yes, spring is coming. And what is the best part of this much anticipated season if not sandals? Whether you’re strolling along the beach or the subway, Robert Clergerie’s platforms from his SS11 collection provide the perfect amount of height without the dreaded pain that is so commonly experienced with high shoes.

Both shoe styles are unfussy, simple and totally chic. With an open toe, the GUIDE (which is available at Bergdorf Goodman and retails for $525) has a tan top and black platform, and is ideal for any spring or summer ensemble, from maxi skirts to thin slacks.

For a bit more color–but just a hint!–opt for the GUILEM platforms instead. In a combination of light blue and taupe, the subtle use of color makes the GUILEM versatile and fun. These run for $545 and are available at Creatures of Comfort on Mulberry Street.

Embrace that semi-warm breeze and start prepping for summer with new sandals. Let Spring shopping begin.
