Over time, mankind has found new ways to produce energy and create new objects designed to provide heat. Keeping with this thought, The Fondation d’entreprise Hermès is now challenging designers to “heat, me-heat, re-heat’’ by creating a design that fits with the luxurious appeal of the brand for what is now the second Prix Émile Hermès.
The competition was created in 2008 to foster creativity in designers by offering them the chance to explore a specific theme as the starting-point for an original product that would be a vital contribution to society. Now its second competition begins as designers’ applications are being accepted until Nov. 30.
The applications and uses of heat are endless. From the highly sophisticated to the extremely simple, each object is intrinsically linked to its geographical and economic context, and the lifestyles of its users. The question is, can you take this and make something worthy of such a luxury brand’s attention?
