Bibhu Mohapatra’s long awaited runway show was filled with inspiration from the “early 20th century Chinese opera” to portray his view of how a woman should dress: confidently and passionately. The collection was filled with luxurious fabrics with many of the models wearing brightly-colored furs or soft and flowy dresses. The patterns on his skirts and dresses gave a watercolor feel and could definitely bring up images of Oriental designs. His longer dresses gracefully floated giving the illusion of pretty koi fish. Mohapatra’s first runway show at Fashion Week was definitely well worth the wait and hype.
