RUNWAY REPORT: FW 2012 GENERAL IDEA
By Katherine Mateo, February 14th, 2012
Designer Bumsuk Choi’s General Idea collection for fall/winter, created an intersection of classic menswear and utilitarian street wear infused with a sense of athleticism. Taking inspirations from archival images of hockey players, Bumsuck Choi explored the transformation between sportswear uniforms to everyday ready to wear. ” After Games” being the title of the collection Choi referenced lean mid-century menswear silhouettes. Trousers with knee pad details, parkas accented with quilted fabrics, and a varsity jacket with toggle buttons are key pieces that illustrate the accessible, yet singular approach to the collection. Footwear for the season includes heavy duty cold weather boots in the namesake collection as well as a performance sneaker in collaboration with Head. Very masculine and very cool pieces you would definitely like to see your boyfriend wearing this fall.
