RUNWAY REPORT: FW 2012 MARA HOFFMAN
By Christine Tran, February 13th, 2012
Drawing inspiration from “South American Shaman Cowboys,” Mara Hoffman creates a stunning Fall 2012 Ready-to-Wear collection. Often revered for her global aesthetics, she incorporates multi-hued prints, meteorite patterns, tapestry motifs and bright colors to strike the perfect balance between modern western and bohemian flare. The collection boasts an array of dresses from flowing silk silhouettes to shorter, formfitting pieces with unexpected yet strategic cutouts.
On the runway, Hoffman utilizes the technique of layering for a quintessential winter feel. Over sized, chunky knits and ponchos are detailed with heavy elements of intricate beading and leather appliques. Models don wide-brimmed hats over windswept, tangled hair appearing as well traveled as the collection itself.
