Runway Report: Sally LaPointe FW 2013
By Marisa Steinberg, February 14th, 2013
The shades of black, gray and burgundy could have made Sally LaPointe’s Fall 2013 collection a typical take on what you expect to bundling up in during autumn. However, just when you thought you knew where the hemline was going, LaPointe cut a corner and made our hearts skip a beat. The designer featured several tops with the waist cut out on the sides, making for a “T” shape, and boxy collarless jackets with extra volume in the sleeves. More surprising was a black maxi dress with an angular take on the fishtail hemline trend. Even the more predictable silhouettes of the bunch like a straight-to-the-floor black maxi skirt looked fresh with LaPointe’s on point layering. Just six seasons after her debut collection, LaPointe has clearly made her signature girl as distinct and sharp as the cut of her clothes.
