Soul Food
By Eva Medoff, April 20th, 2010
In a perfect world, every night would include food cooked by a celebrity chef and a performance by an indie band. And while we can’t taste the dishes or feel the music’s vibrations, we still get invited to watch such a scenario with IFC’s new show, “Dinner with the Band.” After the jump, learn more about the series (which includes appearances by Rufus Wainwright, YACHT, Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings and others), and last week’s NYC premiere.
Food lovers and music lovers alike turned out in droves to celebrate the show at Santos Party House. “Dinner with the Band,” which airs on April 27th at 10:30, takes James Beard-nominated chef Sam Mason and pairs him with various indie acts to instill some culinary knowledge. After cooking up a high-end version of the band’s favorite tour food, Mason (as well as the audience) gets treated to a stripped down performance in the living room of his Brooklyn loft. Essentially, “Dinner with the Band” is every hipster/foodie’s dream.
The following bands appear in the 13-episode season: Rufus Wainwright, The Devil Makes Three, Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings, Kid Sister and Flosstradamus, YACHT, The Mountain Goats, Andrew W. K. , My Brightest Diamond, The Murder City Devils, Lightspeed Champion, Au Revior Simone, Theophilus London, and VEGA.
