Stuart Weitzman Creates Glass Slipper for Broadway’s Cinderella
By Kaila Gantt, February 25th, 2013
Stuart Weitzman has been named the official designer of the glass slipper being worn in the first Broadway production of Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella. Weitzman’s unique creation will make its stunning debut in the musical’s official opening on March 3 at the Broadway Theatre in New York City.
Weitzman’s marvelous shoe, which features a divine transparent vinyl silhouette encrusted with more than five thousand iridescent Swarovski crystals, allows Cinderella star Laura Osnes to dance effortlessly onstage while dazzling audiences. The slipper is also the perfect compliment for the Cinderella costumes designed by five-time Tony Award-winning designer William Ivey Long.
And the best part? Weitzman is making the magic of Cinderella available to all women with his exquisite “Clearly Timeless” capsule collection. The collection includes a glass-slipper-inspired pump, a peep-toe slingback and a strappy sandal- all of which feature vinyl silhouettes and Lucite heels encrusted with Swarovski crystals.
The glamorous “Clearly Timeless” collection will be sold in Stuart Weitzman boutiques in NYC and at www.stuartweitzman.com.
