The Grass is Always Greener

Thankfully, going green isn’t just about hemp and patchouli, anymore. Nowadays, designers like Stella McCartney and Lauren Bush are creating pieces that might just make you do a double take into the realms of organic cotton. Whether you’re a strict vegetarian or a leather-and-fur junkie, there’s no denying that some of these picks are more than just good for the Earth—they’re pretty good for you, too.

Stella McCartney’s love affair with organic materials is nothing new—the designer’s green thumb has helped her whip up everything from vegan bags to shoes, and her latest eco-friendly collection is nothing different. Printed tanks, a camel-colored trench, and a ribbed jumper (all in organic cotton) make us think that she might just be onto something. View the collection in its entirety on the website, and check out some of our favorites to see for yourself.

This past month, designer Lauren Bush teamed up with Barneys for a few in-store shopping events for her line, Lauren Pierce. If you made it to the Atelier, which took place throughout March at six different locations, you didn’t just have to go green: the designer was on hand to aid in the creation of one-of-a-kind dresses in any color your heart desired. Don’t fret, though, if you didn’t make it—the collection of bright, printed minis and shifts (all created with materials from artisans around the world, and colored by hand with low-impact dyes) will be available at Barneys in Chicago, Dallas, and of course, Madison Avenue.
