The Luxury of Los Cabos
By Renee Lucas, August 3rd, 2012
Los Cabos is one of those places that has everything to offer. Some tropical destinations are low key and romantic and some are made to party. Los Cabos is everything and anything you want it to be, and a trip to the Baja California Sur is everything you make it.
When I’m traveling, I like to feel like I am really immersed in the culture of the new country and city. At the Sheraton Hacienda del Mar Golf & Spa Resort, you get a feel of the Mexican culture with the adorable décor and truly romantic rooms and common beachfront areas. Each of the property’s 270 guest rooms and suites offer The Sheraton Sweet Sleeper Bed, a private terrace, and a whirlpool tub. The deluxe garden and golf view rooms provide views of the lush green gardens and the Cabo del Sol Desert course surrounding the hotel. Ocean view and ocean front rooms delight you with their sweeping views of the Sea of Cortez —perfect to view with a loved one, or gaze at with new friends over a few glasses of tequila. The standard rooms have the same amenities as the suites and no one can deny the romantic feel of these dimly lit halls and the breathtaking view of the sea.
For authentic flavors, the D Cortez Grill and Restaurant offers a selection of steak and seafood in a relaxed atmosphere complete with live music…a fun atmosphere to really let lose amongst the authentic upscale Mexican décor.
If you are all about modern décor with a WOW factor, look no further than the Westin Resort & Spa. This gigantic structure is a modern building designed by architect Javier Sordo Madaleno to look like the famous arch. It’s grand, it’s over the top and it’s certainly something to see if you are in the area. Even if you don’t stay there, the Arrecifes restaurant the perfect place for a romantic dinner. Chef Andy Venkatesan and his team provides exceptional dishes and new uses for ingredients from every corner of the globe. With the adjacant On the Rocks Bar, there are 25 different flavors of martinis to try—and the tequila cart with endless varieties is never far away.
THINGS TO DO:
Even if you aren’t a golfer, there’s nothing wrong with a day spent taking an oceanside walk, while you just happen to be hitting a ball around. While avid golfers will love the perfectly manicured greens, anyone who isn’t as skilled can at least admire the view. The 7,037 yard Cabo Real Golf Course, designed by Robert Trent Jones II, has what is considered the toughest front nine of golf in Los Cabos.
While trying to figure out transportation can be part of the adventure, I prefer to have someone with familiarity and who speaks the language making sure I get from point A to point B. Terramar is a tourism service company that has been in operation in the Los Cabos area for over 17 years, and always made sure that we got to our destnations safe and sound. They took care of out trip to the Dophin Discovery which is a highlight to anyone’s trip to Cabo. Located in the Marina Puerto Los Cabos in San José del Cabo only 25 minutes from Cabo San Lucas, we spend time with dolphins Shelly and Titan who we not only got to hug and kiss, but swam with at full speed.
