What’s Happening This Week

By Eva Medoff, July 26th, 2010

Have You Heard? is our weekly roundup of items we may have previously missed (or would like to remind you of again). So as you plan the week ahead, take a look at our cherry-picked selections of what’s hot in art, music, film and fashion right now.

Monday

Don’t miss the last day of the Timo Weiland sample sale, from 12 to 8 p.m. at Bblessing (181 Orchard St.). Snag trench coats and tailored pants for up to 75 percent off.

Tuesday

If you’ve still got an itch to spend, do so without splurging at Acne’s sample sale, where you’ll get goods for up to 50 percent off. Stop by Acne Studio (10 Greene St.) between 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. for the discounts.

Wednesday

Upper East siders The Postelles bring their vintage sounding pop rock to The Bowery Ballroom.

Thursday

The East Village’s Old Village Hall (170 E 2nd St.) invites you to browse their literary-inspired wares, receive a 20 percent discount and sip mint juleps for their F. Scott Fitzgerald Thursdays (any Thursday this summer). Mention Fitzgerald after 4 p.m. to get the discount on their reclaimed furniture upholstered with old documents or other printed textile goods.

Friday

Bill Murray in period garb? Believe it.

Saturday

Stop by Fossil’s 5th Ave store (at 45th St.) to support the art forms of yesteryear. In it’s collaborative project, “Love Live Art,” the brand seeks to preserve old-fashioned art methods like letterpress and collage. This Saturday, mixed-media artist Dolan Geiman will be creating on-site. Head over simply to get a chance to see the artist at work, or spend $125 and receive a Geiman panel painting.
