What’s Happening this Week…

By Eva Medoff, May 17th, 2010

Have You Heard? is our weekly roundup of items we may have previously missed (or would like to remind you of again). So as you plan the week ahead, take a look at our cherry-picked selections of what’s hot in art, music, film and fashion right now.

Monday

Tickets go on sale for Veuve Clicquot’s Polo Classic. Last year’s attendees included Madonna, Kate Hudson and Marc Jacobs. And did we mention Prince Harry played in the actual match? Come for star-watching, polo cheering and champagne picnicking on beautiful Governor’s Island. Don’t get bumped off, grab your mallet and hook your tickets before they gallup away (can we fit any more polo references in this sentence?).

Tuesday

Last chance to see the International Contemporary Furniture Fair and all of its genius creations.

Wednesday

We’ll be checking out H&M’s Fashion Against Aids line tonight, which has two motivations: raising money to fight the disease, and offering fashion forward attire for summer festival-goers. Pick up the line in stores starting on Thursday.

Thursday

Celebrate spring with Tulips and Pansies, a charity fashion show benefitting VillageCare’s Network of AIDS services. Join Carolina Herrera, Betsey Johnson, Patricia Field and more as the designers’ floral headdress creations (made from real flowers) grace the runway.

Friday

Jewish drug dealers? Count us in. Jesse Eisenberg stars as a naive Hasidic Jew lured into a life of hard partying and hard business by The Hangover’s Justin Bartha in Holy Rollers. Ari Graynor (yes, the girl with the gum from Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist) plays the love interest, presumably.

Saturday

Go check out Painting Resurrected, the one night only Tribeca art event promised to make you a believer.
