Several New York eateries are offering packed lunches for grown ups to enjoy. So if you're feeling as if you're cooped up in an air-conditioned abyss, head down to Central Park, Union Square or Bryant Park with meals prepared by Telepan, 'wichcraft or The Coffee Shop. We promise: it'll be better than your thrown-together sandwich.

And while we can’t taste the dishes or feel the music’s vibrations, we still get invited to watch such a scenario with IFC’s new show, “Dinner with the Band.” After the jump, learn more about the series (which includes appearances by Rufus Wainwright, YACHT, Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings and others), and last week's NYC premiere.

The restaurant I’ll be dashing to after long days of hopping around New York Fashion Week (especially from shows at Milk Studios, just a couple blocks away) is the recently opened Tanuki Tavern. Located in prime Meatpacking District, I’ve already become taken by its endearing decor and twist on a traditional Japanese izakaya. The easy to share-sized plates offer a little something for everyone (the kimchi fried rice was my favorite) and the prices are surprisingly diminutive. The greatest plus is that Tanuki is open until 4 a.m. Wednesday through Saturday — perfect for a late night bite after hitting the party circuit.
