We’ve seen a lot of impressive things coming out of London Fashion Week this year, but perhaps one of the most impressive is the collaboration between yoox.com and The British Fashion Council. On their website, yoox.com has a department called YOOXYGEN, which since 2009 has been a place that features innovative, eco-friendly designers and products. This London Fashion Week, YOOXYGEN has showcased London’s Estethica designers on the site—all the more proof that environmentally sustainable materials and eco-friendly products are sweeping over London.

Eco-Fashion: A History Lesson

Earth Day is over—and the green movement is still going strong. The Museum at FIT will be hosting “Eco-Fashion: Going Green,” an exhibition catering to the growing trend of combining fashion and environmental awareness. Featuring over 110 garments, accessories and textiles dating back to the mid-18th century, however, the exhibit not only examines the eco-obsessed designers of today, but the historical context that produced them.

Nowadays, designers like Stella McCartney and Lauren Bush are creating pieces that might just make you do a double take into the realms of organic cotton. Whether you’re a strict vegetarian or a leather-and-fur junkie, there’s no denying that some of these picks are more than just good for the Earth—they’re pretty good for you, too.

Yesterday I stopped by the NYC Go Green Expo at Pier 92. There were many interesting vendors there but one of my favorites was local NYC brand, naturevsfuture. Nina Valenti launched the eco-conscious brand in the spring of 2002, with pieces geared at timelessness and classicism.
