Environmental Estethica
By Tiffany Yannetta, September 22nd, 2010
We’ve seen a lot of impressive things coming out of London Fashion Week this year, but perhaps one of the most impressive is the collaboration between yoox.com and The British Fashion Council. On their website, yoox.com has a department called YOOXYGEN, which since 2009 has been a place that features innovative, eco-friendly designers and products. This London Fashion Week, YOOXYGEN has showcased London’s Estethica designers on the site—all the more proof that environmentally sustainable materials and eco-friendly products are sweeping over London.
Boxing Shoes
By Eva Medoff, July 6th, 2010
We mentioned Boxing Kitten’s pattern-crazy bodices and skirts before, but now the brand is coming out with a limited-edition shoe. Designed in collaboration with Osborn, the eco-friendly “Cheeky” shoe (the heel is made from recycled tires) takes the playful tribal patterns of Boxing Kitten and marries them with a summer oxford with open side panels. With only 50 pairs made (and going fast), each shoe is a model in exclusivity, signed by the cobbler that created it.
Happy Earth Day
By Eva Medoff, April 22nd, 2010
In honor of the 40th anniversary of Earth Day, New York is going green. More specifically, Union Square will be turned into a plant kingdom today with an entire wall of native New York species erected on its Southern plaza. This herbaceous oasis is the product of Miguel Nelson, the founder of Woolly Pockets—recycled plastic containers that house plants and turn any concrete jungle into a rainforest.
