Leather Japan 2012 presented several collaborations from some of Japan’s best clothing and accessory designers at New York Fashion Week on Monday. They hopped on board the eco-friendly train by having all handbags made with environmentally-friendly leather called genten. Check out some of the looks here.

In Manhattan, jewelry stores are about as common as discarded Metro Cards in the Subway. Standing out in this abounding crowd of jewels and molded metals can be a challenge, but a combined bevy of creativity and a yearning for a bracelet that no one has yet created is what new jewelry stores are made of. This Saturday, December 19th, from 2:00-6:00 pm, the new Cole Haan’s store, at 128 Prince Street in SoHo, will be hosting a holiday event perfect for creating unique, customized holiday gifts. The store will have a leather artisan on site that will do custom embossing on purchased leather goods while the customers wait. Customers will have the option of doing monograms or even short phrases on their purchased leather goods.
