Naeem Khan channels the exotic beauty of India through his FW 2012 collection. Exotic prints in neutral tones and exceptionally stunning beading and embroidery were the standouts on the runway.

Odd Molly, best known for their comfortable yet feminine clothes, have just signed the extremely feminine Charlotte Kemp Muhl as the face of their Spring/Summer 2012 campaign.

Lako Bukia is a womenswear brand, which is trying to redefine the way the world sees femininity and sexuality. Due to a decade long pressure from the fashion world and show business representatives, femininity and sexuality are now widely perceived as being equal to wearing tight and revealing clothes. The women of the world forgot that there is something more exciting in the about the mystery of those type of garments which do not stress one’s body shape, and thus pointing to a more important side of a woman.

Life is a Canvas

The Fall 2011 collection of Lela Rose features designs that portray feelings of hazy, obscured imagery, which the styles accomplish through their subdued hues and delicate cuts, to emulate the feel of works seen by the contemporary artist Gerhard Richter. Sculpted shoulders, strict silhouettes and prints painted across cotton canvases reflect visible similarities of the artist’s creations.

On February 12th, at The Standard, New York Ice Rink, Elise Øverland presented her Fall/Winter 2011 collection from 6:30 pm to 8 pm during New York’s Fashion Week. The show featured professional ice skaters from the Ice Theatre of New York and stationary models adorned in pieces from the collection.

Celebrity guests included Gabe Saporta (the lead singer of Cobra Starship), actor Connor Paulo of Gossip Girl and actress Dalai Bruchmann.

On Monday, February 14th, Guishem showcased their Fall/Winter 2011 Presentation at the Box at Lincoln Center from 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm during New York’s Fashion Week. Guillemo Jop, the Guatemala based designer, drew his inspiration from Brooklyn artist Walt Cassidy’s artwork in his premiere solo exhibition last April, “The Protective Motif”. In Jop’s vivid imagination, his designs portray a woman who transforms into a superhero to save the defenseless against the tyranny of pirates.

On February 8th, The Young&ng presented their Fall/Winter 2011 collection at the BODIES Exhibition. As guests made their way back to the presentation room, they were given the pleasure of being able to experience the human body in its rawest, most natural form. In the Red/Heart Chamber presentation room, the dimly lit studio featured body painted models adorned with couture headpieces and cuffs from the collection.

On February 11th, Robert Geller, a designer inspired by the painterly composition of Luchino Visconti’s cinematography, presented his Fall/Winter 2011 Collection at Exit Art during New York’s Fashion Week. The color palette reflects the work seen in Visconti’s rich cinematography. Deep clays, mauves and charcoals reflect the majesty of aged film, while shades of satin black, sand and slate emulate the level of sophistication that is apparent in Visconti’s actors.

Today, February 10th, Victor de Souza presented his Fall/Winter 2011 runway show during New York’s Fashion Week, and it was better than could have ever been anticipated. Inspired by imperial India during the winter months, Souza’s looks capture the vibrancy and majesty of brilliant birds intertwined with the beauty of dense forests. Added beading and silk allow the collection to shimmer in all its glory.
