Despite common perception of neoprene as the material used for laptop cases and scuba wear, the versatility of neoprene can be seen in its appearance on the spring and summer 2012 runways. As seen in a bold top or a feminine dress, neoprene has become a new fabric for daily wear. With the convenience of neoprene being a washable fabric, Leghila has skillfully chosen neoprene as the main fabric of its handbag collection. Apparently, there’s no better time to (re)open a club than during Fashion Week—if you’re club is Don Hill’s and you’re hosting a week chock full of the best parties and afterparties, that is. And with Belvedere on hand providing the booze, you can’t really go wrong. The former dive it still a dive—no doubt about that—though this time around it’s home to a better looking crowd. Last night’s attendees at the Proenza Schouler afterparty included Terry Richardson, Adrian Greiner and Michelle Rodriguez, plus a performance by New York’s own Crystal Stilts.

Proenza Schouler’s spring collection prepared women for an aquatic, graffiti-filled, futuristic dreamland. Reptilian prints in fluorescent yellows and turquoise seemed to camouflage baby doll dresses for a technicolored dystopia. It’s no surprise then that the sunglasses had a similar job: providing protection with thick plastic frames, and unexpected colors like navy and red to blend in with Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez’s vision.

With Coachella a mere two days away, we bring you a pocket-sized, last-minute survival guide. No, we’re not talking sunscreen, shades and water bottles (though those things are certainly necessary), but fashion. Everyone knows the trends from the summer festivals are the most important—and though it may not be summer everywhere, we’re pretty certain it’s hot in Indio, California.
